Sonic 1: South Island Expedition

Sonic 1: South Island Expedition is a fan-made version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) for the Sega Genesis. It keeps the classic gameplay but adds new levels, better graphics, and smoother controls. Some states have bigger layouts, extra paths, and hidden surprises, making them fun to explore.

This version also includes Bridge Zone, a level from the 8-bit Sonic game, now redesigned for the 16-bit style. The backgrounds are more detailed, the animations are smoother, and everything feels sharper while staying true to the original game.

Better Controls and Gameplay Improvements ⚙️

Sonic moves more smoothly, making jumping, running, and controlling speed easier. The game keeps the original platforming style but makes small changes to improve how Sonic reacts. There are also helpful new features, such as:
